Halloween

Was offered the opportunity to hold Halloween this year over here. Kinda cool, still seems to be 'my' thing... but I decided that an open party in a room that is 2m x 6m would probably be a little crowded

here is whats happening, we will have a halloween picnic Huxtable park chermy at around 3:30pm(near my place, if you dont know where to go just sms/ call me or nat and we'll lead the way)

and then later we will head off to the city for some drinks... to celebrate halloween and the end of sem!

btw its still a costume party, so wear a costume, even if its just to the huxtable park picnic

So, on the way back from Amsterdam, we got stuck on a train carrying a couple of hundred football supporters back home from watching the Bundesliga. Rowdy rowdy bunch.

Due to the lack of enthusiasm, the halloween party has been cancelled.

I'll just have to pack away all the decorations i bought till next year.

One Book Many Brisbanes

Following on from the success of previous One Book One Brisbane reading campaigns, the Council has launched a new campaign - One Book Many Brisbanes.
Writing criteria

To enter this creative competition, you need to have been born in Queensland or currently live in Queensland and have a fictional or non-fictional story to tell.

Also stories must be:

* clearly set in Brisbane or have a theme of Brisbane
* between 4,000 and 6,000 words
* previously unpublished
* original works by the author submitting the entry

Both published and unpublished authors are invited to submit their short stories. The competition closes on Monday, 12 December 2005 at 5pm.

Second annual gathering at our place

Hi all

Just thought I should mention (to those we know) we are having a gathering from Fri 09/12 night time through to that Sunday arvo as our annual thing, we have decided the second weekend this time as Trav's work xmas party is on in the first week.....DAMN THOSE MEN lol.

So yeah should be fun, there won't be any rooms available though as we will have a house full of tenants, we are aiming at having a few double mattress's though (more comfy this time lol)

We are still at the same place as last time, so bring alcohol, togs, towels, bed things, nibbles, any special foods u prefer and start saving as I don't plan to serve lunch unless it's left overs (being us thats very possible).

Anyway I dont mean to rain on the parade of halloween (is that how u spell it) sorry about that :o(

Okay well I better love ya's and leave ya's, email me or text me or just reply on here if you plan on coming (or not)

NaNoWriMo 2005

Last November I won my first NaNoWriMo and I can hardly believe it's nearly that time again.

My novel from last year, Tales of Andrew Waters was really fun to write, and a good challenge. This year I'm tossing up whether or not to do a NaNoBlogMo. Also I'm definitely not spending so much time on it this time around; who cares if it doesn't make sense.

So, I hope everyone that took the plunge last year comes back again for another shot, and anyone else who's ever wanted to begin a sentence with, "Back when I was writing my first novel..." to check it out and give it a go.

It's Grand Final time again and usually I'd be having a Grand Final party, but this year instead of watching it on TV, Lyn and I are going to be there!! Woooooo!!

We had arranged everything a couple of months ago when it wasn't really a case of which two teams were going to be in the GF but who would be playing the Broncos. Unfortunately they decided they were sick of being on top of the ladder and didn't want to win anymore games this season a few weeks out from the finals, however, having the Cowboys there is the next best thing.

Is everyone as excited as me? Probably not but it's going to be one damn fine game of footy so you better make sure you all watch it. Maybe you can find a bar somewhere that's playing it Meg.

Time Difference

So, I have an assignment to do for tomorrow about the election in Germany right, and I am on the internet to get information about a person I have never even heard of, and I go to The Australian. Mainly just for Australian news, and I find the most informative article that I've found all day. Anyway, point of the story is, it's 18:25 on the 15th September, and the article that I will quote was written on the 16th. How's that for trippy?
